(Just a warning: This will be long, I don't blame anyone for not wanting to read all the details -- I just want to get it written down since we use our blog as a memory book.)
We left for our Disney vacation early on May 14th so we could get a good day of travelling in so we wouldn't have to travel too far the next day. We made it to Lake City, FL (about 2 hours from Disney) which made the next day so nice. We made it to our resort, Port Orleans French Quarter around noon on the 15th, checked in, dropped our bags off at the room and hopped on the boat to Downtown Disney to eat lunch and do some afternoon shopping. After tooling around Downtown Disney for a few hours (Addy even took a nap in her stroller) we headed back to the hotel to change clothes and go to dinner at Boma (African restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge). Boma ended up just being okay. It was a little too adverturous for us I think. After dinner we headed back to our hotel to get to bed at a decent time because we knew the week was going to be a long one.
We spent our first day in the parks at Epcot. It was the last day of the Flower and Garden Festival and we wanted to see what that was all about. It really ended up not being that big of a deal for us. The topiaries of the characters were neat, but we realized that we had been there before during that time and so had already seen it. Also, Addy didn't really like Epcot too much so we just spent a couple hours there. We started the day meeting Mickey, Minnie, Goody, Pluto and Donald and then road the Nemo ride. Then Scott and I got Fastpasses for the new Soarin ride and took turns riding that. (Addy ended up being about 1 inch too short to ride several of the rides). We ate lunch, walked around a bit and then headed back to the hotel to swim. It was really hot and humid this week and we spent a lot of afternoons cooling off in the pool.
Late afternoon we headed to Magic Kingdom and got there right in time for the afternoon parade and some ice cream. We rode a couple of rides (Buzz Lightyear and Small World I think) and then took the monorail back to Epcot to eat dinner with the princesses. Addy was in awe.
The next day we went to Hollywood Studios. We headed straight for Toy Story Mania. It's a 3-D ride and you shoot at targets, plates, balloons, etc. -- really fun and Addy loved this ride. After the ride, we ran in the green army men from Toy Story and Addy got involved in a little demonstration they were doing. The rest of the day any time we saw a green army man they would salute Addy and call her "Watermelon Girl" (she was wearing a watermelon shirt). Then we met Woody and Buzz. Addy is really into Toy Story and loved every minute of this day. We ate lunch, saw the afternoon parade and did a couple more things before going to Wilderness Lodge for dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. We had the Canyon Skillet -- BBQ brisket, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, ribs, mashed potatos, corn on the cob and salad. This was the best meal we had all week. SOOOOO good.
That night we went back to Magic Kingdom (this becomes a theme, we spend each evening + 2 full days at Magic Kingdom) and rode a couple of rides before getting a seat for Spectromagic (the light parade). After the parade we headed back to the hotel and crashed.
